MWSUG will be offering scholarships to attend the conference. Based on what type of scholarship is awarded, the requirements and obligations differ. The goal of these scholarships is to bolster the attendance of persons meeting these definitions to assure equity in access to this conference.

Scholarship Categories


Full Scholarships


These are meant to be “all expense paid” awards for the event, but if remaining costs exist those receiving these may still apply for financial aid.

Expenses Paid/Provided:
  • Registration Waived
  • Hotel Paid by MWSUG (2 Nights)
  • $50 Gas Card provided at registration check-in
Type Requirements Obligations
Student

Meant for students who are actively pursuing higher education at the high school or collegiate level
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited university or high school
  • Able to provide a current student id or verify student status
  • Additionally open to those starting classes in January 2027 as well as those that graduated in 2026
  • Must submit and present a presentation or poster at the event
  • Required to volunteer for at least 3 paper/presentation sessions
  • Must attend the full conference (3 days)
Independent Learner

Meant for those who are learning SAS in their free time outside of structured classes during unpaid time (not as part of employment) or outside of corporate licensure.
  • Able to provide a statement explaining how you learned about SAS, why you are pursuing this in free time, and resources you have used to learn.
  • Must confirm they are not provided a SAS license through their place of work
  • Required to volunteer as a section volunteer (stays in a room for all presentation sessions) for 1 day, 2 half days OR for 5 individually selected sessions
  • Must attend the full conference (3 days)

Partial Scholarships


These are meant to heavily discount the cost of attendance while still requiring an “accountability” payment to assure attendance or pay for missed meals.
Registration: $120* *This amount will be reimbursed if enough philanthropic support for the event exists.

Type Requirements Obligations
Educator

Meant for teachers/professors who use SAS as part of their curriculum
  • Able to provide a current EDU or high school email address and proof of employment
  • Able to provide a class syllabus and/or describe how SAS is being used for the class they utilize SAS in.
  • Required to volunteer for at least 3 paper/presentation sessions
  • Must attend 1+ days of the conference
  • Required to share information about the conference with students and promote attendance/presentation
New User

Meant for those using SAS as part of employment, but who have been using it for less than a year.
  • Must provide employer affiliation and date of hire documentation or letter from employer
  • Must attend the conference for 1+ days
  • Must volunteer for 3 presentation sessions
Young Professional

Meant for those aged 18-25 who have a SAS license through an employer.
  • Must provide employer affiliation and present an identifying document (ID, License, Birth Certificate) mentioning date of birth if requested. No photos will be taken of this document, but will be verified at check-in for the event.
  • Must attend the conference for 1+ days
  • Must volunteer for 3 presentation sessions

Financial Assistance

Please keep in mind that Financial Assistance requests may still be submitted for any remaining costs using the Financial Assistance Request Form. Financial Assistance requests may be made by any attendee and are given on a first come first serve basis to the degree possible.
